Esophageal tear/rupture

Including Boerhaave's syndrome, which corresponds to a longitudinal esophageal rupture and consequent mediastinitis. Pneumothorax and empyema can be present as a secondary complication. The disease manifests with chest pain and extraesopageal air on imaging. See also under chest pain
