Midline destructive lesions

Include destruction of the turbinates, nasal septum and ulceration and perforation of the hard palate. May mimic the clinical ENT manifestations and some of the laboratory features of granulomatous polyangiitis (formerly known as Wegener). Up to half the patients may demonstrate positive ANCA staining. Osteomyelitis and fungal colonization or infection may develop (PMID: 11605572, 25229300). See also under Xm, Xs( ANCA-positive vasculitis) and Xx
